The Mirror Finishes Your Bathroom

After the vanity and shower, the mirror is the most visible element in your bathroom. It also affects lighting, perceived size, and the feel of the space more than most homeowners realize.

Mirror Types

Frameless Mirror

Clean, modern, fits any style. Budget-friendly. The safe choice that’s always appropriate.

  • Cost: $100–$600

Framed Mirror

Adds texture, colour, and character. Works great in traditional, transitional, and farmhouse bathrooms.

  • Cost: $200–$2,500+

LED Backlit Mirror

Soft glow around the mirror edges. Adds ambient light, looks custom, works as a nightlight. Calgary’s hottest bathroom trend right now.

  • Cost: $400–$2,000

LED Front-Lit Mirror

LED strip around the face of the mirror. Brighter task lighting than backlit — better for makeup and grooming.

  • Cost: $400–$1,800

Medicine Cabinet (Recessed)

Hides in the wall, adds storage, looks like a mirror from the front. Great for smaller bathrooms.

  • Cost: $400–$2,500

Arched Mirror

Arched top, soft lines. Works in transitional to traditional spaces. Having a big moment in Calgary right now.

  • Cost: $300–$2,000

Full-Height Leaner Mirror

Floor-to-ceiling panel or leaning style. Dramatic, makes rooms feel taller. Works in large ensuites.

  • Cost: $500–$4,000

⚠ Estimate Disclaimer: These are only ROUGH estimates that can vary wildly. Do not take these numbers as gospel. Having a defined scope of work and exact selections will give you clarity.

The mirror should be 2–6″ narrower than the vanity on each side. Height: 30–40″ is standard. Taller mirrors work in high-ceiling bathrooms.

To Frame or Not to Frame?

Modern bathrooms: frameless, backlit, or minimal frame. Traditional: bold frame, antique-look, warm finishes. Transitional (most Calgary homes): frameless or subtle frame in brushed gold or matte black.

Mirror Height Placement

Bottom of mirror: 5–8″ above vanity counter. Top of mirror: 6–12″ below ceiling (for standard ceilings). For very tall ceilings, run the mirror all the way up — it’s spectacular.

2026 Calgary Trends

  • LED backlit mirrors (feels like a hotel spa)
  • Large single mirror over double vanity (instead of two separate mirrors)
  • Arched tops paired with minimal vanities
  • Antique/aged frame for powder rooms
  • Smart mirrors with dimmer, anti-fog, clock, Bluetooth speaker
