Welcome to Olympic City!

You’re in the right place!  We are a husband and wife team who LOVE this business and love doing good work for good people.  We’re believe in the face-to-face version of this business built and not the one that hides behind websites and fake five star reviews.

As a husband-and-wife team we’ve been in and around the home business for over thirty years.  And because of that, we can’t possibly convey all of that experience in a few mouse clicks.  Reach out.  Connect.  Come see us at one of the home shows.  We are quietly one of the fastest growing renovation companies in Calgary and look forward to hearing about your project large or small. Just FYI, EVERY contractors bread and butter are smaller projects so don’t hesitate to reach out.

Getting Your Home (and Family) Ready for Renovation

A renovation is disruptive. Planning ahead makes the difference between a manageable project and a miserable one. Here’s how to prepare.

1. Clear the Work Area Completely

Remove everything from rooms being renovated. Not just wall art and knick-knacks — everything. Dust gets everywhere, and anything left in the space will need cleaning anyway.

2. Protect Adjacent Areas

  • Install temporary plastic sheeting to contain dust
  • Cover furniture in adjacent rooms
  • Remove valuable items from nearby rooms
  • Roll up and remove rugs near the work area

3. Set Up a Temporary Kitchen (If Renovating Kitchen)

  • Folding table in dining room or basement
  • Microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, mini fridge
  • Paper plates, plastic utensils (save dishwashing)
  • Budget for more takeout than usual

4. Plan Bathroom Access (If Renovating Bathroom)

  • Ensure at least one other bathroom is fully functional
  • If it’s your only bathroom, consider a short hotel stay during gut demo

5. Prepare Kids and Pets

  • Explain the construction to kids ahead of time
  • Keep pets in a quiet area or with a sitter during demo days
  • Establish which rooms are off-limits

6. Communicate with Neighbours

Let your neighbours know about the project. Give them your contractor’s contact info. Noisy work (demo, concrete cutting) should happen during reasonable hours.

7. Secure Valuables

Remove cash, jewelry, medications, and important documents from the work area and adjacent rooms. Good contractors vet their crews, but minimize risk.

8. Plan for Parking

Your contractor and trades will need driveway/street access for materials and tools. Plan where you’ll park during construction.

9. Budget Mental Energy, Not Just Money

Renovations are mentally exhausting. Expect decisions, surprises, and disruptions. Build in time for yourself during the project.
