Renovation is personal for us
We're Jonathan and Michelle Edwards — a husband-and-wife team who genuinely love this business. Olympic City Renovations has quietly become one of the fastest-growing renovation companies in Calgary, and we've built it here since 2003 almost entirely on referrals from the people we've worked for.
Jonathan has been in and around the home business since high school, learning the trades from the ground up before bringing that experience home to Calgary. He and Michelle met on a flight, bonded over a shared love of design — HGTV on date nights, if we're being honest — and turned it into a life's work.
Between us, we bring about 40 years of combined experience to every project. Jonathan owns the company and directs every renovation; Michelle leads the design. And we still believe the best version of this business is the face-to-face one — earning your trust in person, not through websites and fake five-star reviews.
Humble beginnings
It started as a way to earn money over the summers to help fund his Olympic ambitions. Jonathan painted houses and worked as a labourer for a high-end renovation company in Hingham, Massachusetts.
Though the trade may already have been in him. His grandfather was an immigrant from Yugoslavia — a mason, a carpenter and a farmer. That sort of thing runs in the veins.
Fast forward to 2001. Jonathan meets a girl on a flight from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas. She had the window seat, he had the aisle, and nobody sat between them. A few years later, Jonathan and Michelle were married.
For date nights they watched design and construction shows, and a passion for renovation took hold. Twenty-plus years on, they have worked on hundreds — probably thousands — of homes. Jonathan spent time in the third-busiest renovation market in the United States, honing project management on houses that were sometimes two hundred years old. Including his childhood home.
Today Olympic City is a full-service renovation company that has grown almost entirely on referrals. In 2024 we exhibited at our first renovation show and met hundreds of Calgary homeowners. Quiet, but mighty — and looking forward to growing the Olympic City community.

Owner & Project Director
Jonathan Edwards, OLY
Jonathan has been in and around the home business since high school, and today he's the Project Director on every Olympic City renovation. He built the company on one simple idea: a renovation shouldn't feel like a fight — so you get a fixed price before the first hammer swings, honest timelines, and one accountable point of contact from start to finish.
He leans on a lot of technology to stay on top of every job, so even when he isn't standing on site he knows exactly where your renovation is at — and you'll always get a straight answer, even when that answer is “it depends.”
Design Lead
Michelle Edwards
Michelle leads design at Olympic City, turning the hundreds of small decisions in a renovation — paint, tile, layout, finishes — into choices that actually feel like you. She works with every client from the first consultation through the final walkthrough, keeping selections on budget and on schedule.
As she puts it, no one lives in a home the way you do — so her job is to help you find your style, not hand you someone else's.

What we believe
The values behind every job
Honesty First
A fixed price before work begins and straight answers throughout. If something changes, you hear it from us first — no surprises at the end.
Owner Accountability
Jonathan owns the company and stays involved on every project, so there is always one clear point of contact who stands behind the work.
Craftsmanship
We expect our work to outlast the years you own your home. Details are finished properly, not just quickly.
Respect for Your Home
We treat your space like people still live there — because you do. Clean sites, clear communication, and care for the parts of the reno you never see.
Our Manifesto
The principles that shape how we live and how we work.
Why we think it works
Not a mission statement. Just the things clients actually tell us afterwards.
Priced right, not cheap
We are practical and design driven. It may not be as cheap as you want, but it is priced right — and it is fixed before work starts.
Relationships, not contracts
Our goal is to build a relationship, not to close a deal. We fully expect to be around for your next project.
Faster than the neighbours
Clients regularly tell us their project finished well ahead of the one down the street. Planning is why.
People you can have in your house
Everyone who works on your home is pleasant, clean, good with pets, easy to talk to, and will not scare the kids.
Built to outlast you
We expect our workmanship to last longer than you own the home. And the work is guaranteed.
Genuinely a good time
A renovation with us is a collaboration. We will know each other pretty well by the end, and that is the point.
The company we keep
We work with some of the best suppliers and trades in this city, and we have spent twenty years earning those relationships. It matters more than most homeowners realise.
A contractor who pays on time and treats people properly gets the good installers, gets the call back when a material is delayed, and gets problems fixed quickly. A contractor who does not, does not — and it is the homeowner who ends up waiting.
It is an unglamorous advantage and it is one of the main reasons our projects finish when we say they will.
- How much liability insurance do you carry?
- Are you bonded?
- What exactly is guaranteed, and for how long?
- Who pays if a trade damages something?
Renovations are hard. Just know you are covered.
Most homeowners never think to ask a contractor about this until something has already gone wrong. Ask us now, and ask everyone else you are considering.
$5,000,000 in liability insurance
Carried on every project we run. If something goes wrong on your property, the coverage behind it is real and it is substantial.
We are bonded
A bond is a third party standing behind our obligations to you. Plenty of contractors are not, and most homeowners never think to check.
Our work is guaranteed
We expect our workmanship to last longer than you own the home. If something is not right, you tell us and we deal with it.
